Master of Arts

The Master of Divinity is the standard for ordination preparation, but it may not be the best plan for every seminarian. For those students who have the permission of their bishop to pursue a different degree, Holy Cross suggests one of the M.A. programs that Beacon offers: M.A. in Biblical Studies, or an M.A. in Practical Ministry with either a Counseling Ministry or Pastoral Ministry focus. These programs are typically three to four semesters in length and may be taken in any of the three tracks available for the M.Div.: in residence, distance, or a combination of the two.

Other schools

Although Holy Cross has established a partnership with Beacon University, some seminarians may wish to receive Anglican formation while studying for another accredited degree, such as the Master of Theology from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio, or some other M.Div. or S.T.B. program. Holy Cross can provide the Anglican Studies component for preparation with any approved degree program. Ask for more information about specific programs.
